Les Moules is a small reef just south of the Fort-Bloqué beach: flat rock slabs and patches of sand that throw short, quick lefts and rights. It only works around high tide, picks up most south to south-west swells and handles up to about 2 m. It is seldom crowded and the mood is relaxed, and local contributors see it as a sensible first reef for surfers moving on from the beach breaks.

Local tips

Rides are short, under about 50 m, so position carefully on the peak and kick out before the slab drains. Come on the higher half of the tide, rising or falling, and wear boots if you are unsure of the rocks.

Getting there

Follow the coast road from Guidel-Plages to Fort-Bloqué; park by the beach and the reef is on the right as you face the sea, a couple of minutes' walk away.

This open reef picks up most south to south-west swells, so on paper it is very consistent. In practice it only works on the higher half of the tide, and summer is often flat.
Crowd and vibe
It is one of the quietest spots on this coast, even when it works. The small crowd keeps the mood friendly.
