La Ñora is a small cove on the Gijón–Villaviciosa boundary. A powerful left breaks along the rocks into the sand, with a shorter right on the other side and more peaks on the beach. It needs some swell and likes north-north-west, ideally 1–2 m. The main left suits experienced surfers, while small days are fine for improvers. The river at the back sets up a strong current.

A strong current can make it hard to get back to the beach, so watch your drift. It gets crowded when it works.
Getting there
There is a small car park that fills early in July and August. A coastal path continues west to Somió in Gijón.
Travel notes
- How often it works
- Fairly consistent, as the open cove catches most north and north-west swells. In winter it is clean about half the time, but strong winds often blow it out.
- Crowd and vibe
- Expect a crowd whenever it is working, since it is close to Gijón. Rocks and a strong current make it a spot to watch carefully before joining the line-up.
- Camping and vans
- The nearest campsites are Camping Gijón at El Rinconín, about 4 km west and closed from October to May, and Camping Deva Gijón, about 4 km south and open all year. Nearest campsite about 4 km away.
- Facilities
- Toilets, showers, food and drink, several car parks and lifeguards every day from 20 June to 20 September.
