Cap de l'Homy sits at the end of a single forest road from Lit-et-Mixe and is one of the quieter beaches on the Landes coast. It is a consistent sandbar break with lefts and rights, gentle and forgiving on small days and fast and hollow when the swell builds and the wind goes east. The banks shift a lot from month to month, so it can be dull one week and full of barrels the next. With few people about, you can often have a bank to yourself.

Local tips
There are many similar banks along the beach, so walk until you find an empty one rather than sitting with the crowd at the lifeguard post. Watch for the rips, which can leave shallow sand very close to the surface on some days. On bigger days the take-off becomes the hard part; commit and go late.
Getting there
Take the road west from Lit-et-Mixe straight to the beach. Parking is on and in front of the dune (paid in summer), a short walk from the sand, with a campsite nearby.
Travel notes
- How often it works
- This very open beach works all year on west swells, at any tide. Strong rips (currents pulling out to sea) come with the bigger days.
- Crowd and vibe
- It rarely feels crowded, even with good waves, because the long beach has many similar peaks. Only the area by the lifeguard post gets busy in summer.
- Camping and vans
- The town campsite, Camping du Cap de l'Homy, is about 300 m from the sea and has 36 motorhome pitches (May to September). Camping Caravaland and a few small, simple campsites are along the road from Lit-et-Mixe. Nearest campsite about 0.5 km away.
- Facilities
- There is paid summer parking on the dune, a few snack bars, a surf school and a lifeguard post in season.

- The Cap de l'Homy bathing site is rated excellent in the official French rating (national open data, 2022).
