Los Quebrantos is a wide, easy beach of dark sand on the east side of the Nalón mouth, at San Juan de la Arena. Together with Bayas it forms the longest stretch of sand in Asturias. The river jetty shelters its west end. It works at all tides on small to medium swells, with several peaks that move with the sandbanks. It suits all levels and is home to surf schools; one has been based here since 2003.
