El Ris is a kilometre of sand on the west side of Noja village, lined with houses and small dunes. Its signature wave is a peak that forms where the sets hit the rock in the middle of the beach, giving punchy lefts and rights. The waves break well out from the sand. It suits intermediate surfers. It is mostly flat in summer and very busy when it works.

Travel notes
- How often it works
- It needs a medium north-west swell to line up on the central rock. Small swells at low tide do little, and big swells make the peak messy. Autumn and winter on a rising mid tide are the best bet.
- Crowd and vibe
- Crowded on good days and very busy in summer, with a surf school on the beach. Locals expect respect at the main peak.
- Camping and vans
- Camping Playa Joyel opens straight onto Ris (late March to late September, no pets). Camping Argos is about 300 m from the beach (late March to mid-October). Nearest campsite about 0.5 km away.
- Facilities
- Toilets, showers, deckchair hire, a big car park and Escuela de Surf Ris, with Noja's bars a short walk away.
