Supertubos, on Praia do Medão south of Peniche, is one of the heaviest and most famous beach breaks in Europe. Sandbanks shaped by the harbour breakwater make thick, fast barrels, with the lefts usually the better wave. It hosts the World Surf League Championship Tour event in Peniche each year.
