Playa Gris, also called Planeitxa or Aizpurupe, is a rocky stretch of coast between Getaria and Zumaia, named for its grey stones. In the biggest winter storms it produces a huge left over sharp rock, often six to ten metres and reportedly up to fifteen. It is one of the main big-wave spots in Spain, and sessions here have earned Billabong XXL award nominations. The size and speed of the wave make it a tow-in spot.
