Santiago is a wide sandy beach of about 350 m on the edge of Zumaia, between the Urola river marshes and the N-634. The official beach guide describes calm water with only occasional waves, and it is mainly a family and watersports beach. We found no surf guide that describes it as a regular surf spot. Most surfers in Zumaia head to Itzurun instead.

Local tips

Check Itzurun first, since it is far more exposed and is the town's surf beach. If you do surf here, stay clear of the river channel and the boats from the marina.

Getting there

Park in the marked areas beside the N-634 towards Getaria or near the marina. Euskotren trains and buses stop in Zumaia.
