O Rostro is a wild beach north of Fisterra: almost 2 km of sand below cliffs and dunes, open to the west and part of the Natura 2000 network. There is nearly always a peak somewhere, often when the rest of Galicia is flat. The peaks shift with the sand, and with an easterly wind and higher tide it can throw fast waves and tubes. In winter it is often too big or blown out. Strong rips and its isolation make it one of the most dangerous beaches in the area.
