Lariño is a short, steep beach of sand and pebbles at the mouth of the Ría de Muros, in Carnota, next to the Lariño lighthouse. Several peaks break both ways, fast, hollow and hard near the shore. The best is usually the short, powerful right at the lighthouse end, known as one of Galicia's classic shorebreaks for tubes. It is a favourite with bodyboarders, though some surfers find it less consistent than its reputation. It needs some swell, doesn't hold big sizes, and the banks move a lot from one storm to the next.

When it works
✓ A 1–2 m west or south-west swell with a north-east or east wind around mid tide.
When it doesn't

Local tips
Not for beginners. The wave is fast, and the cobbles make it tricky. The sand moves, so check the peaks after each storm. On good days the peak fills with bodyboarders who know it well.
Getting there
On the C-550 at Lariño, about a five-minute walk from parking. There are showers and a few bars by the access path.
Travel notes
- How often it works
- It works quite often on west and north-west swells, but it is moody. The sand and cobbles move after every storm, so the peaks change, and it can't handle big swells.
- Crowd and vibe
- Quiet on weekdays, but crowded at weekends and whenever it's good. Bodyboarders from all over Galicia know the wave, so the main peak fills up fast and is competitive.
- Camping and vans
- Camping Ancoradoiro, a seasonal campsite in the Louro pine wood that takes tents, caravans and motorhomes, is about 1.5 km away. There is also an área de autocaravanas at Ancoradoiro, about the same distance. Nearest campsite about 1.5 km away.
- Facilities
- Showers and a bar or two by the access path; Camping Ancoradoiro nearby runs a surf school.
- Water quality
- The Carnota tourist office calls the water excellent, but the beach is not on the 2026 Bandera Azul list and no official rating was found.
