Caldebarcos is the northern corner of the long Carnota beach, by the village and harbour of the same name, below the granite of Monte Pindo. This corner faces south-west, so it gets less of the north-west swell than the middle of the bay and stays cleaner when the north wind blows. Like the rest of the bay, it has sand peaks that break left and right. On big winter days, it is where the bay is still rideable.

Local tips
In a north wind, start at this end of the bay. If it's messy, the rest of Carnota's long beach is just to the south.
Getting there
Reach it from the C-550 coast road through Carnota. There is parking near the village.
Travel notes
- How often it works
- It picks up the same north-west and west swells as the rest of Carnota bay, so it has waves often from autumn to spring. Summer is mostly flat, and waves here are usually a bit smaller than at the most exposed spots.
- Crowd and vibe
- Like the rest of Carnota, there are few surfers on weekdays and more at weekends. The long bay spreads people out, so this corner rarely feels busy.
- Camping and vans
- There is no tent campsite in Carnota itself. Nidos de Carnota rents cabins only. The nearest campsites are at Louro, about 10 km south, and the free municipal área de autocaravanas by the Boca do Río football field, about 2 km away, allows overnight stays and has water and waste disposal. Nearest campsite about 10 km away.
- Facilities
- The tourist office lists no services at Caldebarcos; Boca do Río, further south along the bay, is the best-served part of the beach.
- Water quality
- Not on the 2026 Bandera Azul list (no Carnota beach is), and no official water rating was found for this beach.
