Santa Comba is a straight, 1.4 km sand beach below cliffs north of Ferrol, inside a protected dune area. It is known for Isla do Medio, the small islet at its eastern end with a pre-Romanesque chapel; you can walk to it at low tide. It needs a bit more swell than Ponzos, about 1.5 m. Then it gives short, punchy, hollow peaks both ways, best at low tide, with good tubes on a westerly swell and offshore wind. It is usually quieter than San Xurxo, Campelo or Doniños.
