La Concha is Suances' town beach, about a kilometre long, in a sheltered bay beside the mouth of the Saja-Besaya river. It needs a solid swell to break. Then there is a long, easy right on the beach and a fast left by the harbour jetty, known as La Ría. It is a spot for learners and holds when Los Locos is big, though the water can be dirty after rain.

Local tips
Check it when Los Locos is too big or blown out by west wind, because La Concha is sheltered from west and south-west. The left by the jetty is the better wave; the beach right suits beginners. Surf shops, schools and surf camps are all close by.
Getting there
It is in the middle of Suances, with the promenade, parking and services right behind the sand.
Travel notes
- How often it works
- Fickle. The headland and harbour wall block most swells, so it only breaks when a big swell hits the open coast.
- Crowd and vibe
- Usually quiet in the water, even at weekends. In summer the sand is full of bathers and the beach hosts sports events.
- Camping and vans
- Camping Suances sits in the town centre, about 500 m from La Concha. Nearest campsite about 0.5 km away.
- Facilities
- Red Cross lifeguards with a rescue boat in summer, a first-aid post, several showers, step-free access, board hire, and the cafés, surf shops and schools of Suances right behind the promenade.
- Water quality
- Not on the 2026 Bandera Azul list, but all official samples from 2023 to July 2026 were rated fit for bathing. Counts are a little higher than at Los Locos because the river mouth is next door, so skip it after heavy rain.
