As Furnas is a long, 800 m beach in the Xuño area of Porto do Son, just south of Río Sieira. It is mostly sand, with slate reefs at the ends and in places along the beach. It is one of the most consistent and best-known spots in the Rías Baixas, with peaks both ways and gentler waves than Río Sieira. On normal days it suits every level, and it has an active local surf community. The name refers to the rock pools among the slate; dolphins often come close in, and the sunsets are famous.
