Baroña is a wild beach in Porto do Son, just south of the Iron Age hillfort of Castro de Baroña on its northern headland. It takes about a quarter of an hour to walk in. It needs a fair swell; then shifting sand peaks give powerful, flowing rights and lefts, with rocks around the edges and at the north end. The local crew is small, with a strong surf culture, so respect goes a long way. Part of the beach is used by naturists.
