O Baleo is a 250 m cove of sand and rock just north-east of Pantín, shaped like a shell and closed in by cliffs inside a protected natural area. It holds more size than its neighbour. Its sandbar peaks break with real power, fast and hollow on the right days. Currents along the rocks are strong, and the beach almost disappears at high tide. It is quieter than Pantín, but more than about six surfers already feels crowded.

Local tips
The currents change and the shore break is heavy. Surfers often get into trouble here as the tide rises. The small take-off area has a protective local crew, so respect the mood. It's nice for an evening session when the surf isn't too big.
Getting there
Take the Pantín road, but turn right instead of left. Follow the winding lane to the Baleo car park, a short walk from the sand.
Travel notes
- How often it works
- It picks up the same open-ocean swells as Pantín next door, so it often has waves. The tide is the limit: the beach almost disappears at high tide.
- Crowd and vibe
- Empty on weekdays but crowded at weekends, and packed in summer because the cove is small. Wannasurf lists localism. The local crew is protective, so keep a low profile.
- Camping and vans
- No campsite at the cove. The nearest is Camping Valdoviño, about 5.5 km away. The A Frouxeira Camper Park in Valdoviño takes autocaravanas. Nearest campsite about 5.5 km away.
- Facilities
- Car park, toilets, showers, a picnic area and lifeguards in summer.
- Water quality
- The council monitors the water, but we found no published rating and it is not on the 2026 Blue Flag list.
