El Sitio is a left that peels over flat rock shelves at the northern end of the Sopela beaches, working mainly at low tide. It holds swells of up to about two metres without losing its shape. Guides describe it as a fairly consistent wave that suits a range of surfers when it is small. It is usually much quieter than the beach peaks nearby.

Local tips

The bottom is flat rock, so learn where the shallow patches are before you take off. Mind the slippery rocks when you get in and out. It is a good escape from the crowded peaks of Sopela at low tide.
