Santo Antón is the beach of Espasante, a small fishing village near the mouth of the Ortigueira estuary. Cliffs shelter it, so its lefts and rights are softer and smaller than on open beaches like Pantín or Doniños. In spring and summer the small waves suit beginners. In winter it becomes the refuge for intermediates when strong west or north-west winds or oversized swells shut down the rest of the coast.

Travel notes
- How often it works
- Sheltered, so it only gets good waves when a big swell wraps in. It works best in winter, or when strong westerly winds spoil the open beaches.
- Crowd and vibe
- Normally 10 to 20 surfers. It gets busy when it is the only spot working, because surfers from the whole area come here to hide from the wind.
- Facilities
- Village bars sit a few metres from the sand, and Espasante has a few small hotels and a pensión.
- Water quality
- We found no official water rating for this beach. Espasante's A Concha beach holds a 2026 Blue Flag, but we could not confirm that it is the same stretch as the surf spot.
