A heavy, long left that breaks over a rock shelf below high cliffs near the Lastres lighthouse, at the spot known as La Verdad. It only wakes up in the biggest north-west winter storms. It is strictly a big-wave spot, for a handful of experienced big-wave surfers. Getting there means a walk along the cliff top, and the cliffs make getting in, getting out and any rescue difficult.

When it works
✓ A huge, long-period north-west storm swell at mid to high tide, with a south or south-west wind.
When it doesn't
✕ Anything short of a major storm swell does nothing, so it works only a handful of days a winter; any wind from the north makes it unridable.

- reef
- currents
Best months
January, February, December
Local tips
Don't try this wave without big-wave experience, a team and a safety plan. Mid and high tide are best. Plan the way in and out before paddling out, because the cliffs leave few ways back to land.
Getting there
It is a walk of about 15 minutes from the lighthouse area above Lastres to the cliffs.
History
Big-wave crews, including Axi Muniain's team, have surfed it in major winter storms.
