Mauvaise Grève is a sandy bay strewn with rocks near the small harbour of Moguériec at Sibiril, just across the Guillec estuary from Le Dossen. A medium north-westerly swell can line up into long walls, with rides of a few hundred metres on a good day. Opinions vary: some call it a regional classic, others find it disappointing. It is quieter and less consistent than Le Dossen next door, partly because it takes a walk to reach, and the many rocks deserve respect.

Local tips
Go in a light offshore or cross-offshore wind from the south-south-east, which smooths the long walls. Local accounts say it can work at both low and high tide. Respect the rocks, which are many, and avoid it on big days when it gets heavy.
Getting there
Drive to Moguériec, where signs point to the beach. Allow 15 to 30 minutes on foot to reach the break.
Travel notes
- How often it works
- Fairly consistent from autumn to spring, though usually flat in summer. It needs a medium north-westerly swell of about 1.5 m to start. Above about 2.5 m the waves get heavy over the rocks.
- Crowd and vibe
- Quiet compared with Le Dossen across the estuary, partly because of the walk in. The École de Surf du Léon sometimes teaches here, so expect the odd group. Otherwise only a few surfers, mostly local.
- Camping and vans
- Camping Ar Roc'h at Moguériec (367 route de Kersauzon) is the nearest campsite, open from April to October. It has sea views, motorhome pitches and a pool. The municipal Camping du Dossen at Santec is just across the Guillec estuary. Nearest campsite about 0.5 km away.
- Facilities
- Almost nothing at the beach: no lifeguards, toilets, showers or drinking water at the nearby Moguériec harbour beach. Lessons and board hire come from the École de Surf du Léon, which runs all year.
- Water quality
- Mauvaise Grève is not an official bathing site. The nearest one, Port de Moguériec, was rated Excellent in 2025 with all summer tests good. The fishing harbour and the Guillec estuary are close by, though.
