Trestel is a long, gently sloping bay of fine sand facing north-north-west, about a kilometre long, closed by low cliffs and the Pointe du Goff on its west side and looking out to Île Tomé and the Sept-Îles. Its peaks break left and right over sand, with rocks only at the two ends, and the waves are rarely powerful, so it is a gentle, open beach for learning. Winter is the real season, when bigger north-westerly swells bring rideable waves. It is home to the Trestel Surf Club and its water-sports centre.

Local tips
Sources favour mid to high tide. The beach is so flat that the water's edge moves a long way, so watch where the peaks shift as the tide comes in. Stay clear of the rocky ends of the bay. On windy days the beach fills with kitesurfers, so share the water sensibly.
Getting there
The beach runs alongside the D38 coast road in Trévou-Tréguignec, with parking along the road and the water-sports centre, toilets, a summer tourist office and restaurants close by. Traffic on the road can be fast, so take care crossing.
Travel notes
- How often it works
- Works fairly often for this coast from autumn to spring, on north to north-westerly swell. The shallow bay takes the power out of the waves. It is often flat in summer.
- Crowd and vibe
- A beginner and family beach. The Trestel Surf Club and visiting schools teach here all year, and kitesurfers come out on windy days. School holidays and summer weekends are busiest. The mood in the water is relaxed; keep clear of lessons and let the regulars have their waves.
- Camping and vans
- Camping Le Mat sits right at the edge of Trestel beach, roughly 200 m from the waves. It is open from mid-April to late September. Nearest campsite about 0.5 km away.
- Facilities
- There are toilets, beach showers, a restaurant and a summer lifeguard post. Lessons come from the Trestel Surf Club, which has hot showers at the Pôle Nautique, and Ponant Surf School.
- Water quality
- Rated Excellent in the official 2025 bathing-water ranking, with two medium summer tests. The tourism listing still shows a Blue Flag (Pavillon Bleu). But no Côtes-d'Armor beach held one in 2025, so that label looks out of date.
