Laga is a 570 m beach in Ibarrangelu, inside the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve, facing Izaro island below the 279 m limestone cape of Ogoño. It is open to the sea and fairly consistent, with short, punchy peaks in both directions that depend on how the sand has settled. It works with medium west to north-west swells and holds two metres or more, with hollow sections on good days. The water is clean and the setting is unspoilt.

Local tips
The eastern end is where local surfers from Gernika and around gather, so be respectful there. If it is too big, Mundaka is just across the estuary. Surf clubs and schools work here, which makes it a good place to learn.
Getting there
Park right in front of the beach, on the coast road from Ibarrangelu.
